New year, better me

New year, better me

Happy 2019! We're excited to keep the day dream going and take new steps to grow in lots of ways this year. #1 Personally, I want to prioritize a balanced schedule that pens in important time blocks for self-care, family time, social events, and health in various ways. Since the holidays, I've used our throwback pen to help color-code my schedule. If I see too much of one color, I know I have to balance things out. Or sometimes say no to the things that don't serve the direction I'm going in at that time. But it also points out...

CommUNITY

CommUNITY

If there's one thing I can say about 2018, it would definitely be about the value of community. Looking out for each other brings immeasurable value to our success and quality of life. Sparkly Scribes has been able to bring smiles to others this year because of community - whether by geography, industry, passion, etc.  So in the holiday spirit, I want to use this month's post to share a list of communities who bring people of all backgrounds together to celebrate and support each other. I must admit that the strengths I prided myself in the past are areas where I feel I can barely get by in the present. Those skills included multi-tasking, organization, attention to detail, thoughtfulness, resiliency, and resourcefulness/creativity (I was once a Peace Corps volunteer who had to make...

Energy + Motivation

Energy + Motivation

Work smarter, not harder. That's something my family and I have talked about a lot, but especially more so lately. When we're feeling stretched thin, it's hard not to be more snappy and irritable. Then we end up wasting the little energy we have left trying to make a point we later realize wasn't really worth it. If you've never felt this way, please comment with your secret(s)!  Coffee has helped us get our days started: pour-over, French press, AeroPress, drip. We'll take it all. :-) But that's not what this is all really about. I wanted to take this...
